Brand Design
A brand that earns the room.
Most service businesses have a logo. Few have a brand. The difference is the gap between being recognised and being chosen. We close that gap.
Brand design at QBD is reserved for businesses with a proven service and a clear growth trajectory. We do not design logos in isolation. Every engagement is a complete brand system — positioned to occupy a distinct place in your market and built to hold that position as you scale.
Why most brands fall short
A logo isn't a brand. Most businesses stop there anyway.
None of the six problems below are aesthetic. They're strategic gaps that show up the moment a business tries to grow, raise prices, or enter a new market.
01
No positioning behind the logo
A mark exists, but nobody could tell you in one sentence why a client should choose this business over the next one. Without positioning, every design decision is a guess.
02
Visual identity that doesn't match the fee
The website, the deck, and the business card all look like a business charging half the price. Prospects judge credibility before they ever hear the pitch.
03
No system, just assets
A logo file, a colour someone liked, a font someone downloaded. Nothing documented, nothing consistent, and nobody sure what's actually "on brand" anymore.
04
Outgrown the original identity
The business has changed — new services, new price tier, new market — but the brand still looks like it did on day one. The identity stopped representing the business years ago.
05
Multiple offers, no coherent structure
Different services or sub-brands with no clear relationship to each other. Clients aren't sure what's connected to what, or why it matters.
06
Design without a written brief
Every rebrand starts from a blank page instead of a strategy document. The result looks nice and says nothing — because nobody defined what it needed to say first.
What we build
Six services. One system.
Each offering below is available as a standalone engagement or as part of a full brand system build. Full system engagements are prioritised. Scope is confirmed during the brand discovery session before any work begins.
01
Brand Strategy
Positioning, audience definition, competitive differentiation, and the strategic foundation everything else is built on. Delivered as a written brief before any design work begins.
02
Brand Architecture
How your services, divisions, and sub-brands relate to each other. Especially relevant for firms with multiple practice areas or audience segments.
03
Naming
Business names, service names, and descriptors that are memorable, ownable, and legible in your market without explanation. Includes trademark screening guidance.
04
Creative Direction
The visual language of your brand. Mood, aesthetic direction, and the reference system that guides every design decision that follows. Presented before any marks are drawn.
05
Logo and Visual Identity
Primary mark, secondary marks, colour system, typography, spacing, and the full visual identity delivered as a production-ready system with a brand standards document.
06
Rebranding
For businesses that have outgrown their current identity. Audit, strategy, and full system rebuild — without losing what's working. Includes equity review before the new direction is set.
Not sure where to start?
A strategy call gives you clarity on whether brand design is the right next step and what scope makes sense for your situation.
Who this is for
Built for specific stages.
Brand design at QBD is not for every business. It is for businesses at a specific inflection point — where the gap between their capability and their visual credibility is actively limiting growth.
Professional Practice
Consultants, advisors, and firms ready to attract premium clients
You have the expertise and the track record. Your current brand does not communicate the level you operate at. Prospects judge you against competitors who look the part — and you lose before the conversation starts.
Service Business
Established service businesses entering a new market or price tier
You are raising prices, expanding into a new geography, or moving upmarket. Your current identity was built for where you were, not where you are going. You need a brand that opens the doors you are ready to walk through.
New Venture
Founders launching with a clear service and a proven point of view
You know your audience, your offer, and your differentiation. You want to enter the market with a brand that reflects the quality of your thinking from day one — not something you will need to redo in two years.
Not the right fit
Businesses still testing their model or unsure of their audience
Brand design requires a clear brief. If you are still experimenting with your service offering, pricing, or target client, a strategy call is the right starting point. We can help you get to brief-ready before an engagement makes sense.
Our approach
Systems, not decoration.
Strategy before aesthetics. Every visual decision is grounded in a written positioning brief. Design without strategy is decoration.
No trends. The visual language is built for longevity. A brand built today should still be relevant in ten years.
Platform-ready delivery. Every identity is built with your Squarespace or Shopify site in mind. Fonts, colours, and assets tested in context.
One direction, fully developed. We present one creative direction per engagement — the right one — with full rationale. Not three options that dilute the thinking.
Full handover. Production-ready files, a brand standards document, and a recorded walkthrough. No dependency on us for routine application.
How it works
The process, from brief to launch.
Every engagement follows the same structure. The timeline varies by scope. A full brand system — strategy through visual identity — runs eight to twelve weeks.
Brand Discovery
A structured session covering your business, your clients, your competitors, and your growth goals. This produces the brief that guides every subsequent decision. No discovery, no engagement — this step is not optional.
Strategy and Architecture
Positioning statement, audience definition, competitive differentiation, and brand architecture. Delivered as a written document. Approved before design begins.
Creative Direction
Visual territory mapping, mood and aesthetic direction, and a creative brief that defines the visual language before any marks are drawn. One direction presented. Refined based on your feedback.
Identity Design
Logo system, colour palette, typography system, and supporting visual elements. Presented in context — on your website, on your business collateral, across your primary touchpoints. Not on a blank white presentation slide.
Delivery and Handover
Production files, brand standards document, and a recorded walkthrough. If your website build is part of the project scope, identity handover and site build run in parallel from this point.
